Acai berry is probably the most controversial and at the same time popular
weight loss supplement. If you are like many others, you probably know about the
benefits of acai berry already and how it has almost “miraculous” weight loss
result. But I am about to bet that you don’t know about the negative side of
acai berry; the reason why it has become so controversial. If yes, then you have
come to the right place. I am about to bust some myths and upset many acai berry
“vendors” and really reveal some sensitive information that many many people
don’t want you to hear. I will also show you how you can spot acai berry scams
and
But be warned, I’ll be going through some cold hard facts (meaning bad points),
so if that’s something you might not want to hear, then you may as well leave
now.
What is Acai Berry anyways?
Acai Berry is a small, purplish Berry fruit that grows in Acai palm in flood
plains and the swamps of Central America. They have been consumed by the native
South Americans for hundreds of years.
Acai contains omega fatty acids and antioxidants and has high fiber content.
These have been shown through numerous scientific studies to improve health and
aid in weight loss.
The truth about Acai Berry’s popularity
Acai Berry has been consumed by natives of Amazon for several centuries. Why did
it suddenly become so popular in the US? Yes, you are right. It is the same
culprit: media. Acai Berry was recently featured on Oprah Winfrey’s popular TV
show in which Dr Perricone named it as a superfood and discussed the health
benefits of it. Most importantly, Oprah and Dr Perricone discussed its amazing
ability to burn fat and reduce pounds
After this show, hundreds of marketers came up with Acai supplements and they
were promoting it using “Featured by Oprah” to get easy sales. The truth is,
most of these supposed Acai supplements contained very little Acai Berry (if
any) and was mostly filled with fillers. Some of them had as little as 1% Acai,
but they were selling in thousands just because they were riding on the
popularity of Oprah. What most people fail to notice is that Oprah only
recommended the pure, natural raw Acai fruit and not the pills that hardly
contain any Acai.
Acai Berry Scams
After its initial popularity Acai Berry got entangled in controversy. This is
because of two reasons:
- Some medical professionals started to question the health benefits of Acai
Berry and demanded scientific proofs
- Scammers have filled the market with fake acai berry products
Some Medical professionals argue that Acai doesn’t really have enough
antioxidants, and even the small amounts of antioxidants that are present in it
are not absorbed by the body. But, these arguments have been refuted by
independent researchers by experimentation. These researchers have tested to
determine which natural substance contains the most amounts of antioxidants and
found that freeze-dried Acai Berry ranks sixth behind the spices cloves,
cinnamon, and some other rare grasses. Additionally, another scientific study
conducted by a professor at Texas A&M established that the antioxidants are
indeed absorbed by human body. Thus, we can conclude that the questions about
the health benefits of Acai are unfounded and it is really beneficial to health.
What exactly are these scammers doing?
The scammers have hurt the reputation of acai berry in two ways:
- Selling a fake product (I will show you how to detect these)
- Questionable business practice (I will show you how to detect these also)
These companies offer their product using a professionally designed webpage.
They offer a free trail, where you only pay for the shipment (around $5). But,
they fail to mention in the sales page that by ordering the free trial, you will
also agree to monthly auto-shipment and auto charge of credit card unless you
cancel the free trial. Even after you realize what’s coming up and you want to
cancel the auto shipment, these companies make it almost impossible to cancel
your order. Usually they never respond to the customer service number and there
is no other way to cancel it. A lot of people have finally resorted to canceling
their credit card.
Does acai berry really work?
The real acai berry fruit does really work. It changed a lot of lives by giving
them a slimmer and healthier body. The reason why it is better than other weight
loss diet is because:
- Its easy and straight forward to follow. Just remember to take your
acai berry pill without fail and stick with it for at least one month
- Its completely natural: While most weight loss pills are made up of
artificial chemicals that cause some or other side-effects, Acai Berry is a
natural organic substance and hence free from any harmful side effects.
- It works quickly from day one: the moment you start using this
miracle formula, you’re going to notice the improvements. You can
realistically lose up to 5lb a week. And that’s with no additional exercise or
diet control. All you need to do it remember to take the Acai Berry. No matter
what happens, follow the program for at least one month to really see the
benefit and see whether you can lose weight with Acai Berry.
How to avoid the scams?
There are many websites online where you will be able to order Acai Berry. But,
most of them are scams. How do you spot a scam? Check for the following to save
yourself getting scammed:
- Check if the Acai Berry Company offers a free trial. If it
does, it’s most probably a scam. It’s best to stay away from that particular
product.
- Check the ingredients of the product. If it contains anything less
than 500mg of Acai Berry that means it is made up of the extract (not pure
fruit) along with a lot of filler and you need to stay away from that product.
As a matter of fact, if it even contains multiple ingredients, stay away from
that product
- Check if it has a Certificate of Analysis, which scrutinizes and
certifies that the Acai Berry has been freeze, dried immediately after
harvesting. If a product doesn’t have a Certificate of Analysis, stay away
from that product
- Check the ORAC rating of the product. ORAC is another independent
body that investigates the amount of organic (natural) substances in pills. If
a product doesn’t show the ORAC rating and certificate, stay away from it.
I have run a lot of Acai Berry products thorough the above criteria, and
found that most of the products do not meet the criteria and are therefore a
scam.
But, there are a few of them that not only satisfied the above criteria, but
also were very impressive in their customer support. The one that I recommend
the most is Pure Acai Berry
among all the other available brands because it’s the only one that contains
100% pure (not an extract),organic and unchanged Amazon acai berry. It also has
the certifications that I was looking for.
